MERCATUS’ JV IN NEX GOLD RIDGE SECURES MAIDEN GREEN LOAN OF S$900 MILLION
Mercatus Co-operative Limited (“Mercatus”)’s joint venture associate, Gold Ridge Pte. Ltd. (“Gold Ridge”), has obtained a S$900 million green loan (the “Green Loan”) from DBS, OCBC Bank and UOB to refinance NEX, the biggest mall in the North-East region of Singapore.
This is Gold Ridge’s maiden green loan and marks its first foray into sustainable finance, following Mercatus’ two green loans totalling S$428 million that was secured in 2020.
NEX recently attained the BCA Green Mark Goldplus certification in January 2021, an improvement on their previously held BCA Green Mark Gold certification. As a green buildings advocate, all of Mercatus’ other commercial properties have attained BCA Green Mark certification – Jurong Point 1 & 2 (Green Mark Platinum); AMK Hub and One Marina Boulevard (Green Mark Goldplus).
Mercatus continues to take a holistic and collaborative approach towards embedding sustainability into its business and across its portfolio to create meaningful impact on the communities in which it operates, its people and the environment. The green loan and sustainable efforts at NEX reflect Mercatus’ commitment to advancing its sustainability goals as a responsible organisation.
