Our Business Strategy

Investment Management

We create value and deliver growth by investing, developing and managing a diversified portfolio of strategically located commercial properties in Singapore and overseas, as well as identifying and investing in overseas commercial properties.

Asset & Property Management

We achieve operational excellence by undertaking asset enhancement initiatives to increase asset value, and adopting a proactive leasing and tenant management approach, so as to achieve stable returns and maximise occupancy.

Capital Management

We deliver stable and sound returns by adopting a proactive and prudent capital management framework, maintaining funding flexibility for future capital expenditures and acquisitions, and establishing a standard platform to manage capital from investors.

We conduct our business activities in a sustainable manner by adopting sustainability principles with focus on economy, social, governance and the environment.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Mercatus, we recognise that our actions have far-reaching impact on our stakeholders. Hence, we take a holistic and collaborative approach towards advancing sustainability causes that are meaningful to the communities we operate in, our people and the environment.

Many of our initiatives and business activities support various United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We are committed to building upon this momentum to further sustainability – for our business, our people, our community and the environment.

Supporting Community Initiatives

The well-being of our community underpin ours. For that reason, we maintained our efforts in supporting various non-profit, community, charitable organisations and government agencies at our retail malls through venue sponsorships. Some partners we have worked with  included Health Promotion Board, Central Narcotics Bureau, Ministry of Manpower, and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

Foster a Fair Safe

The health and safety, and continued development of our people is our priority. Besides attaining BizSafe STAR from Workplace Safety and Health Council across the Group portfolio, we achieved ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (Environmental, Health and Safety Management System).

Waste Management

Being an active supporter of BCA green building standards, all Mercatus-owned buildings have received Green Mark certification – Jurong Point 1 & 2 (Green Mark Platinum); AMK Hub, One Marina Boulevard & NEX (Green Mark GoldPlus).

Making a Social Impact

As a subsidiary of NTUC Enterprise Co-operative Limited, we also kept up with our commitment to provide at least 25% of commercial space to NTUC Social Enterprises to facilitate their community outreach efforts. In 2019, in support of NTUC-U Care Fund, $446,600 was donated towards various assistance programmes, including the U Stretch Vouchers and U Care Back-to-School Vouchers, to help 26,000 beneficiaries. We also donated $250,000 to NTUC Health & Money Owl, in support of Merdeka Generation activities.

Each of our properties also played a part in supporting the communities in which they operate.
